This role requires operating all types of equipment safely, including manual transmissions and tire chaining. The driver will be responsible for safely operating a tractor/trailer to transport freight in compliance with all Company, Federal, State, and Local laws, including FMCSA regulations regarding run times. Adherence to all FMCSA requirements for Commercial Driver's License holders is mandatory. Responsibilities include maintaining required records, ensuring safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials, and securing equipment and cargo. Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are crucial to ensure the safe working condition of the tractor and trailer. Drivers will check gauges for malfunctions, ensure trailer seals/locks, and inspect the vehicle during trips. Prompt reporting of maintenance issues to Fleet Services or supervision is required. Verification of unit numbers against paperwork and reporting discrepancies are also key duties. The role may involve using in-cab technology, such as electronic logs, and may require driving different schedules or performing dock work based on business needs. Occasional over-the-road driving may be necessary, as approved by Safety and dictated by business needs. Providing professional and courteous service to customers and the public is essential. Assistance may be required with dock work, including loading/unloading freight, and customer site loading/unloading. Regular attendance is required.
