About The Position

Metric is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to be our next Local Infrastructure Lead based out of our San Antonio, TX office. This leadership role is ideal for a professional with 10+ years of experience in local infrastructure, public works, or site development who is ready to take ownership of projects, build a high-performing team, and help expand Metric’s presence across the San Antonio region and throughout Texas. This position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape and grow a local team while delivering impactful infrastructure projects that serve our communities. The lead will work closely with Texas leadership to drive business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas (additional state licensure a plus).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public works, utilities, municipal roadway, drainage, trails, or site development design.
  • Strong project management, administration, and supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with San Antonio-area public agencies.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple offices.

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex projects for the design and delivery of public works, municipal roadways, trails, drainage, utilities, and/or site development projects.
  • Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, schedules, and execution plans and QA/QC oversight
  • Monitor project performance, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to clients and public entities throughout the San Antonio/Austin region.
  • Lead project meetings, client presentations, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Support proposal development, RFQs, and business development initiatives.
  • Build and grow the local infrastructure team in San Antonio (and support Austin as needed).
  • Supervise engineers, engineers-in-training (EITs), and CAD designers.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and career development support and engage in industry organizations.
  • Apply advanced technical expertise to ensure project-specific standards and best practices are met.
  • Manage design production using relevant software including AutoCAD Civil 3D or related tools as part of project execution and plan development.
  • Oversee budget tracking, resource allocation, and overall project profitability.
