About The Position

Lakeshore Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety-conscious Local Garbage Truck Driver to join their team in McCall, ID. Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B CDL with Air Brakes endorsement OR Class A or B CDL Permit (Must hold permit prior to job offer).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT drug screening.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicle record screening.
  • Must meet position requirements and successfully pass post offer employment examinations including: Background Check, MVR Check (Clean Driving Record), Drug screen, Physical Capacity exam.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
  • Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as loading and unloading, moving waste bins to positions accessible by truck, and closing enclosure gates, at times without assistance.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Clean up the area around accidental waste spills.
  • Complete daily reports on pre and post-trip inspections of equipment.
  • Fuel the vehicle daily.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the equipment, including routine washing.
  • Monitor over and under-filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements.
  • Monitor the condition and repair needs of existing carts/containers.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Interact courteously with customers.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Operate an Automated truck collecting solid waste and transporting it to appropriate disposal sites.
  • Deliver excellence in customer service at all times.
  • Be cross-trained in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.
