Requirements

Valid Class A or B CDL with Air Brakes endorsement OR Class A or B CDL Permit (Must hold permit prior to job offer).
Clean driving record.
Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Must be able to pass a DOT drug screening.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to pass a motor vehicle record screening.
Must meet position requirements and successfully pass post offer employment examinations including: Background Check, MVR Check (Clean Driving Record), Drug screen, Physical Capacity exam.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Perform physically demanding tasks such as loading and unloading, moving waste bins to positions accessible by truck, and closing enclosure gates, at times without assistance.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
Clean up the area around accidental waste spills.
Complete daily reports on pre and post-trip inspections of equipment.
Fuel the vehicle daily.
Maintain the physical appearance of the equipment, including routine washing.
Monitor over and under-filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements.
Monitor the condition and repair needs of existing carts/containers.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Operate an Automated truck collecting solid waste and transporting it to appropriate disposal sites.
Deliver excellence in customer service at all times.
Be cross-trained in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.
