Local CDL A Driver (Night Shift)

About The Position

Operate a Class A refrigerated commercial vehicle to make some-touch pickups and deliveries at local Americold warehouses and customer locations. The position is local, with the driver home daily, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The stated compensation is $29.71 per hour base pay plus a $0.75-per-hour shift differential ($30.46 per hour total); rates may vary by location. The driver maintains required paperwork, including bills of lading and invoices, and follows Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Duties include maintaining daily trip logs, completing pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections, and complying with hours-of-service rules. Drivers may encounter crowded streets and highways, varying weather conditions, and stress or fatigue associated with driving.

Requirements

Hold a valid, current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the state of residence.
Have 2 years of CDL A experience.
Have no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs within the past five years.
Have no more than four moving violations in the past 36 months and no more than two moving violations in the previous 12 months.
Have no preventable accident involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within the past three years.
Have no violations for reckless driving, speeding 15 MPH over the speed limit, improper lane changes, or texting/handheld-device use while driving, and no conviction for a serious or disqualifying traffic violation within the past three years as described in FMCSR parts 382, 391, 392, and 397.
Successfully pass a DOT background screen, pre-employment drug test, and other required physical and medical examinations.
Demonstrate the ability to enter and exit a truck and hook and unhook trailering equipment.
Demonstrate written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer-service communication skills sufficient to read and interpret road maps and signs and work with customers and co-workers.
Demonstrate basic mathematical skills sufficient to complete required papers and documents.
Demonstrate reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, and speaking skills for effective interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.
Identify and solve problems in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and scope may change, while maintaining accuracy.
Sit for extended periods and repeatedly adjust vehicle controls to exact positions for several hours per day.
Demonstrate manual dexterity and coordination of two or more limbs, and sufficient ability to talk, hear, see, and identify details at a distance.
Possess judgment sufficient to assess relative distances and recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Relate to others and partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes.

Nice To Haves

Experience with refrigerated (reefer) trailers.
