About The Position
We are seeking a meticulous and customer-focused Loan Underwriter to join our Lending team at JG Wentworth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing loan applications, verifying essential information, and ensuring a high-quality experience for our applicants. This position will be reporting to the Underwriting Manager.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in customer service, loan underwriting, consumer lending, personal banking, mortgage underwriting, or mortgage processing
- Familiarity with processing loans, financial statements, and income documents
- Must be able to easily articulate financial questions and document requests with processing team
- Ability to follow detailed procedures to verify applicant information and process applications
- Ability to take detailed notes and document work with attention to detail
- Strong communication, typing and writing skills
- Goal oriented and experienced with high-performance teams
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Extremely comfortable with computers and general aptitude for quickly learning new systems
- Ability to make lasting impressions, quickly build meaningful connections with people and a passion for delivering high-quality customer experience
- You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Detail oriented and a passion for accuracy
- Appreciate a team mentality and have a desire to contribute to our mission as a company
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed including weekends.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify loan applications, including employment, income, identity, payment history, bank account history, and repayment ability.
- Maintain high standards of quality while processing a large volume of loan applications.
- Communicate effectively and timely with cross functional teams
- Detecting suspicious or potential fraud risk on loan applications
- Propose new ideas and recommendations to improve departmental processes.
