About The Position

As a Loan Processor III at Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), you will be responsible for processing Home Equity and HELOC loans originated through the Express Services function. Your primary goal will be to ensure a timely closing to exceed member expectations and support all sales efforts of the Express Services staff. SCCU is a member-focused, not-for-profit organization that reinvests in its members and prioritizes internal promotions and on-the-job training. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with two days per week required in the office.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or completion of specialized course study or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years prior processing experience in consumer loan products or mortgage loan processing experience, closer, or underwriter with an emphasis on conventional loan products.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the loan for closing, ensuring all closing documents are correct, accurate, and in compliance with government and credit union regulations.
  • Ensures that loan approval stipulations are met prior to loan closing.
  • Transmits and receives third-party requests to meet established time standards.
  • Resolves member problems, obtains information, researches records, follows up on details, and assesses member needs timely and efficiently.
  • Orders and reviews documentation from borrowers or external sources, including income and asset documentation, appraisals, and title work.
  • Reviews asset documentation to ensure assets are sourced and seasoned per program guidelines and that the borrower has sufficient funds to close.
  • Reviews appraisals to ensure they meet loan guidelines and compliance.
  • Boards completed loans and disburses funds to members and/or creditors.
  • Answers incoming calls, assists applicants with questions about loan files in process, or redirects callers to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to the position.
  • Manages a pipeline of 30-50 loan files, meeting department goals for average processing time to approval.
  • Communicates with borrowers regarding required documentation, file progress, and closing arrangements.
  • Adheres to established productivity and loan quality standards.
  • Supports sales efforts by providing members with appropriate product and service materials.
  • Demonstrates a courteous, tactful, and professional approach in dealing with members and internal customers.
  • Demonstrates concern and respect for others, inspiring confidence and trust.
  • Demonstrates effective face-to-face and telephone interactions.
  • Articulates ideas clearly, concisely, and grammatically correctly in written communications.
