About The Position

Journey Bank is a strong, independent community bank with 22 locations and 290 employees, dedicated to assisting all members of its community on their financial journey. The bank is seeking a Full-Time Loan Processor/Closer to join its team and work on-site at its Operations Center in Bloomsburg, PA. This position is part of the Loan Processing Department and reports to the AVP, Loan Processing Manager. The Full-Time Loan Processor/Closer is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the loan processing/closing function, including preparing loan documents, reviewing documents for accuracy, onboarding loans, answering and directing phone calls, and reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to use a computer with Windows and Web-based software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient reading and math skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficient typing skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Positive and professional mannerism

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree and/or specialized training in a business or financial field
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a banking or related position
  • Working knowledge of loans and documentation
  • Working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures that impact consumer and mortgage loan document services

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties to support the loan processing/closing function
  • Prepare loan documents
  • Review documents for accuracy
  • Onboard loans
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor
  • Order, process and review appraisals
  • Type correspondence memos, forms, tables and reports, utilizing word processing, spreadsheets and specialized departmental equipment/software
  • Process mortgage files to prepare to go to underwriting
  • Contact loan customers and insurance companies to request information
  • Work closely with Originators and Underwriters in all aspects of the loan process and closings
  • Understand and be familiar with all loan products and the documents specific to the products
  • Provide information and assist in the preparation of various loan reports, HMDA reporting, etc.
  • Work closely with title agents and abstract companies to prepare closing documents
  • Verify completion of all loans being closed, ensuring proper approvals and adherence to bank policy
  • Schedule closings with attorneys and settlement agencies
  • Review and update secondary market automated underwriting reports
  • Assemble files and send to PHFA; follow up on any missing documentation with PHFA
  • Place, direct and assist with internal and external telephone calls
  • Cooperate with, participate in, and promote the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety, soundness, and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including annual Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training and complying with all BSA rules and regulations
