About The Position

Responsible for providing assistance to all Mortgage Processors with their loan processing activities. Receives new applications from Loan Officers and performs preliminary tasks before passing the loan on to be evaluated by a Processor. Assists in any additional tasks requested by Mortgage Processors as necessary throughout the process of the loan.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One to two years of related office experience.
  • Excellent, verbal, written and public relations skills.
  • Efficient use of computer applications.
  • Able to learn quickly and work under pressure.
  • Able to analyze and process financial information.
  • Well organized.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills and to use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
  • Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, adjectives, and adverbs.
  • Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; and using a good vocabulary.

  • Preferred understanding of mortgage loan processing functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective clerical support for Mortgage Processors.
  • Receives new loan applications.
  • Performs preliminary tasks to prepare loans for processing, which may include: Ordering appraisals, title reports, verifications of employment, verifications of deposit and tax trasncripts.
  • Reviews preliminary information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Clarifies missing or questionable information.
  • Ensures that all necessary items are available for processing.
  • Tracks development of requested information to ensure compliance with processing guidelines.
  • Communicates status of loans to loan officer and processor.
  • Maintains professional business relationships with UCCU personnel.
  • Resolves (or refers) loan officer requests and problems promptly and courteously, answers questions regarding applications in the process.
  • Maintains and conveys the Credit Union's professional reputation.
  • Completes status reports and records promptly and accurately and keeps loan officers and processors informed of area activities and of significant problems.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Maintains a professional, clean and well-kept appearance.
  • Approaches job responsibilities and relationships with a positive attitude.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Willing to cover absent Mortgage Loan processors as required.
