About The Position

We are seeking detail-oriented Loan Operations, Post-Closing, and Compliance Internal Audit Analyst to perform audits and risk assessments across the lending lifecycle. The role is responsible for evaluating internal controls, identifying operational and compliance risks, conducting audit testing, and supporting the execution of the annual audit plan and special investigations. This is a fully remote position for an analytical professional with strong critical-thinking, investigative, documentation, and communication skills. The Loan Operations, Post-Closing, and Compliance Internal Audit Analyst supports the execution of audits across the lending lifecycle. The role performs audit testing, continuous monitoring, and risk assessments to evaluate internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. Audit activities may include the review of processes and data maintained in loan servicing, workflow, and business applications such as LAPro, QuickBase, Monday.com, and other systems utilized by the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Auditing, or a related field.
  • One or more years of experience in Internal Audit or External Audit.
  • Proven ability to review detailed documents with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and a steady queue of work independently.
  • Stable, reliable internet connection.
  • Professional and dedicated remote working environment.
  • General understanding of loan operations, closing, post-closing, and compliance functions.
  • Basic knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, and audit concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to review documentation and identify exceptions or control concerns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn lending processes, compliance requirements, and Internal Audit practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of loan operations, closing, post-closing, servicing, and compliance activities.
  • Review loan files, system data, reports, and support documentation to evaluate control effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform audit testing, data analysis, walkthroughs, and risk assessments in support of the annual audit plan.
  • Conduct ad hoc investigations, management requests, and special review projects.
  • Prepare audit work papers, findings, recommendations, and management reports.
  • Validate management corrective actions and monitor remediation of audit findings.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders while maintaining audit independence and objectivity.
  • Perform audits across the lending lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, servicing, collections, and payoff activities.
  • Evaluate internal controls, identify risks, and assess compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Review loan documentation, loan activity, and supporting data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Evaluate post-closing controls related to documentation, loan boarding, collateral records, lien perfection, investor reporting, and exception management.
  • Assess the effectiveness of controls designed to ensure the completeness and accuracy of post-closing activities.
  • Assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, investor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Identify compliance risks, control deficiencies, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Perform audit testing, walkthroughs, data analysis, continuous monitoring activities, and special investigations.
  • Prepare audit workpapers, reports, and recommendations.
  • Validate corrective actions and monitor remediation efforts.
