About The Position

The Loan Assistant provides administrative and operational support to Commercial Loan Officers throughout the commercial lending process. This role is responsible for coordinating loan documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining loan files, communicating with clients, and assisting with loan closings and servicing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in commercial lending practices, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service to business clients.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of banking experience, with advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in commercial loan assistance, documentation, loan processing, and commercial loan operations.
  • Working knowledge of commercial loan documentation and lending regulations.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation systems and core banking software.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must possess the ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization, including Management, coworkers, and customers to promote a team effort and maintain a positive attitude even under extreme pressure.
  • Ability to maintain composure and skilled in customer service.
  • Excellent oral, written, telephone, organizational and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple Commercial Lenders.

Responsibilities

  • Support Commercial Loan Officers with all aspects of the commercial loan process from application through closing and servicing while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Monitor financial statement, tax return, insurance, covenant, collateral, and other post-closing exception requirements to ensure timely receipt and compliance with Bank policy.
  • Serve as a liaison between Commercial Loan Officers, Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Compliance, and other departments to facilitate efficient loan processing.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state banking regulations, including commercial lending requirements, Flood Regulations, BSA/AML, OFAC, Privacy, Fair Lending, and internal loan policies and procedures.
  • Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with customers and branches.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Efficient with software programs including knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrate prioritization and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Research and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current on commercial lending regulations, Bank policies, products, procedures, and technology to support continuous professional growth and operational excellence
