About The Position

Lila Sciences is opening a Loading Dock Associate (Contract) role to support day-to-day dock operations at our AP5 campus. As the company expands lab capacity across multiple buildings, the volume of incoming reagents, equipment, lab consumables, and capital deliveries has grown significantly, and lab teams depend on reliable, well-communicated dock operations to keep experiments on schedule. The Loading Dock Associate is a hands-on role focused on receiving inbound shipments, inspecting and routing deliveries, keeping the dock clean and organized, and communicating delivery arrivals to lab and operations teams. The role works under the direction of Facilities Management and alongside Lab Operations and EH&S. This is a contract position, 40 hours per week, based onsite at Alewife AP5. It is ideal for someone who takes pride in operational details, communicates clearly, and enjoys working in a fast-moving environment alongside scientific and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
  • Ability to safely operate a pallet jack
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform sustained physical activity on the dock floor
  • Working knowledge of safe material handling and dock equipment
  • Clear communicator, able to relay delivery updates to onsite teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Comfort using basic tracking systems and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work onsite at Alewife AP5, 40 hours per week, during standard receiving hours

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a life sciences, biotech, or pharma receiving environment
  • Familiarity with handling temperature-sensitive or hazardous shipments (cold chain, dry ice, chemicals)
  • IATA or DOT certification for handling hazardous materials shipments
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, growth-stage company

Responsibilities

  • Receive and log inbound deliveries at the AP5 dock
  • Inspect shipments for damage and verify quantities against packing slips
  • Route incoming shipments to lab teams, offices, and storage areas as directed
  • Notify lab and operations teams when their deliveries arrive
  • Keep packing slips and invoices organized and submit for record-keeping
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock area in line with EH&S standards
  • Assist with scheduled or oversized deliveries alongside Facilities staff
  • Track and report metrics on inbound package volume for Facilities and Lab Ops
  • Escalate discrepancies and delivery issues to the dock manager or Facilities lead
