About The Position

ADM is seeking a Loader to join their team in Columbus, NE. This role is responsible for taking product samples, sealing trucks and railcars, and ensuring the correct content, volume, temperature, and weights of products. The Loader will also perform cleaning and sanitization of railcars and tanks, operate various equipment, and maintain accurate records. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to take sample products from trucks and railcars and seal them.
  • Ability to load products ensuring correct content, volume, temperature, and weights.
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements.
  • Ability to properly record, close, tighten, and seal trucks and railcars loaded with sweeteners and starch after loading and inspection.
  • Ability to clean and sanitize railcars and tanks using standard cleaning materials and procedures.
  • Ability to use computer programs (ADMWEIGH and Honeywell DCS) to monitor loading operations.
  • Ability to open and seal hatches and unloading doors, cleaning and installing proper gaskets.
  • Ability to operate valves, pumps, and filler pipes, and transfer wet and dry products from holding facilities to transportation equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers in person and using two-way radios or similar equipment.
  • Ability to inspect interior of tanks for cleanliness and exterior for leaks or damage.
  • Ability to monitor processes carefully to ensure the efficient transfer of product to transportation vehicles.
  • Ability to verify tank car numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars by crew.
  • Ability to fill out Inspection Reports after checking trucks and railcars.
  • Ability to operate a rail locomotive, positioning cars in appropriate sequences to receive product.
  • Ability to clean up spills in area.
  • Ability to complete related records of product transferred, ensuring the accuracy of such records and input related data into computer.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance duties on department equipment or notify department supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Ability to prepare and present bill of lading to the drivers of the loaded trucks.
  • Ability to remove and replace or give directions to another worker to remove and replace dome caps, using wrenches.
  • Ability to inspect rupture disc, vacuum relief valve, rubber gaskets on valves and cover plates, and replace defective parts, using wrenches.
  • Ability to connect hose to outlet plugs on cars and attach special dome, using wrenches when unloading cars.
  • Ability to work in teams to coordinate tasks to efficiently and accurately load products into rail cars or trucks.
  • Ability to operate skid loaders, forklift trucks, payloader, locomotive and related equipment.
  • Ability to clean and operate switch tracks in rail yards to move rail cars to proper tracks.
  • Ability to maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance of department equipment such as checking oil levels, greasing hanger bearings, washing screens, pulling covers, working on baghouses, unplugging conveyor presses, and routine serving of the pay loader.
  • Ability to inspect pump filters regularly, exchanging such for new filters as necessary.
  • Ability to crosscheck scales on a weekly basis to maintain and verify accuracy.
  • Ability to suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by attending staff meetings and discussing ideas with co-workers and management staff.
  • Ability to attach and operate densifier to the railcars when filling with starch product.
  • Ability to pump compressed air into car to test for leaks.
  • Ability to shovel or otherwise remove excess product from loads as needed.
  • Ability to assist and advise Traffic Coordinator of car situation.
  • Ability to communicate by using approved hand signals and two-way radios.
  • Ability to assist in keeping the department in tour ready condition.
  • Must pass a background check.
