Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts and potentially overtime.
  • Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Ability to work with a knife (if trained).
  • Ability to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Ability to work in an environment that is wet and humid.
  • Ability to wear a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work around strong smells/odors.
  • Ability to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
  • Ability to perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
  • Load 36 bags of product per minute.
  • Perform set up and change seal bars as needed throughout the shift.
  • Identify what chambers on the 8600 are not performing correctly.
  • Ensure the bags are flat and straight over the seal bars to minimize efficiency loss by leakers.
  • Work at a moving loading station.
  • Monitor machine operation and settings, make appropriate adjustments to ensure standards set by management are adhered to and to minimize/eliminate waste.
  • Contact supervisor to resolve difficulties beyond what incumbent is trained/authorized to handle.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
