About The Position

Knife River is hiring a Loader Operator to support concrete plant production and materials handling. The operator safely runs and maintains a loader and other equipment, keeps the concrete plant supplied, loads trucks with road materials within legal hauling limits, and helps maintain haul roads and aggregate piles. The role includes equipment and site inspections, material quality checks, and daily cleanup and plant maintenance support.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with Saturday work as needed. Hours may vary depending on weather and customer demand. The work involves operating equipment at night under artificial lighting and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• A safety-first attitude.
• Previous front-end loader operating and maintenance experience.
• Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
• Good mechanical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with others and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily equipment walk-around and site inspections, identify and correct unsafe conditions, and keep equipment properly maintained.
• Safely operate and perform maintenance on a loader and other equipment.
• Keep the concrete plant supplied for maximum production.
• Load trucks with road materials up to the legal hauling weight limit.
• Maintain smooth, level haul roads and keep aggregate piles free of contamination.
• Inspect material for gradation quality, oversized rocks, and contaminants.
• Check for spillage on the plant floor and clean it up daily, including assisting with shoveling.
• Check for worn-out flashing on the plant that could lead to spillage.
