About The Position

The Loader Operator is responsible for safely operating a large, wheeled loader in support of excavation and trench shoring for water and sewer main pipe-system construction. The role includes assisting with material handling, transporting and placing bedding and backfill materials, and supporting the crew’s work while following safety requirements. The hourly pay rate depends on experience. Work may be performed during days, nights, and weekends as required. Relocation may be required for ongoing opportunities and career growth.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of loader experience on water and sewer construction projects, including placing bedding material into open-cut trenches.
• Experience moving various materials on utility projects involving open trenches and other job-site hazards.
• Previous pipe-backfilling experience.
• Reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks, including climbing ladders and entering and exiting ditches.
• Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• General operating skills and attention to safety and efficiency.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Operate loader equipment safely under the supervisor’s direction.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials using a loader bucket or forks.
• Transport and dump bedding and backfill material into trenches.
• Recognize hazardous conditions and immediately report them to the supervisor.
• Load trucks safely and efficiently.
• Communicate clearly with crew members using verbal and non-verbal hand signals while operating equipment.
• Follow required safety rules, policies, and guidelines.
• Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
