The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a large, wheeled loader in support of excavation and shoring of trenches for the construction of pipe systems for water and sewer mains. The hourly pay rate is dependent on experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of loader experience on water and sewer construction projects, including placing bedding material into open-cut trenches
- Experience moving various materials within utility-type projects with open trenches and other job site hazards
- Previous experience backfilling pipe
- Reliable transportation
- Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (climbing ladders, entering/exiting ditches)
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- General operating skills and attention to safety and efficiency
- Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Operate loader equipment safely under the direction of the supervisor
- Assist in loading, unloading, and transporting materials using loader bucket or forks
- Transport and dump bedding and backfill material into trenches
- Recognize hazardous conditions and immediately report them to the supervisor
- Load trucks safely and efficiently
- Communicate clearly with other crew members using verbal and non-verbal hand signals while operating equipment
- Work days, nights, and weekends as required
- Follow all required safety rules, policies, and guidelines
- Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor
