About The Position

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and/or grade material. This role involves operating heavy equipment and vehicles while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping across surfaces ranging from smooth to extremely rough. Work takes place at construction and industrial sites and may involve irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or equivalent and previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
Must possess strong working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
Proficiency in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout, and measurement tools.
Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
May require a U.S. driver's license.
Must have required tools.
Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across a construction or industrial site may be required.

Responsibilities

Operate vehicles and heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping materials.
Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; and spread rock and gravel.
Trench and construct ditches for culvert, water-pipe, and sewer-pipe installation; remove silt and debris.
Check and maintain equipment fluid levels and lubrication.
May instruct and train employees in safe construction-equipment and tool operation and in job techniques and skills.
Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors, problems, or defects.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules and perform other duties as required.
