Our Savannah LNG bunkering team is at the forefront of delivering cleaner marine fuel solutions in one of the busiest ports in the Southeast. We conduct ship‑to‑ship LNG transfer operations with a strong safety culture, high operational standards, and close coordination with port partners and vessel crews. Requirements

  • QMED license or higher
  • Liquified Gas Cargo Operations Endorsement
  • Valid STCW endorsements including: BST, VPDSD, PSC
  • USCG endorsement LG & DL
  • Current TWIC, USCG Medical Certificate, MMC
  • 720 days engineering experience aboard towing vessels

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no felonies, DUI, or other convictions which would restrict entry into Canada or other nations
  • Chief Engineer license
  • Experience working on towing vessels
  • IECEx CoPC (Certificate of Personnel Competence) or CompEx
  • LNG Experience (Barge, ship, or shoreside facility)
  • Towing on the ship
  • Microsoft Office 360
  • Experience with HELM or other computerized maintenance system
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections, including SIRE, ABS, and USCG

Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee all LNG cargo operations end-to-end (pre-transfer, transfer, vapor management, shutdown, and post-transfer) to ensure safe, efficient bunkering.
  • Plan, verify, and complete all pre-transfer requirements including but not limited to DOI, JSA, checklists, system lineup, and safety zone establishment.
  • Operate and control cargo transfer systems including but not limited to pumps, valves, hoses, ESD/ERS, and vapor control equipment to maintain stable flow, pressure, and temperature.
  • Manage cargo tank conditions and limits (pressure, temperature, filling limits, vapor control, and BOG handling) to prevent unsafe conditions and optimize operations.
  • Perform advanced cargo handling operations such as but not limited to inerting, gassing-up, cooling down, stripping, warming, aeration, purging, and emergency unloading.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all LNG cargo and auxiliary systems including GCU, subcooler, nitrogen systems, pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure all critical cargo, safety, and transfer equipment remain operational, certified, and compliant.
  • Enforce all safety, regulatory, and SMS requirements while actively managing hazards, PPE compliance, and emergency preparedness during all operations.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor assigned crew while acting as the PIC and key operational point of contact with vessels, terminals, and shoreside management.
  • Maintain complete operational, maintenance, and audit documentation ensuring full compliance with USCG, ABS, and company requirements.
  • Ensure barge readiness for operations and transit by securing systems, verifying operational status, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and organization.
