About The Position

The LNA provides basic nursing care to patients in the NICU, including assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, and toileting. The role also includes taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, observing and reporting patient information, and providing basic first aid. The position is per diem, onsite at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, and works night shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accepted issuer.
New Hampshire Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) credential.
Knowledge of general nursing assistant practices, personal care, and basic medical services.
Knowledge of patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality; commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following relevant policies.
Sensitivity to the needs of patients and employees.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of clinical, medical office, or managed care experience.
0–1 year of nursing assistant experience.

Responsibilities

Obtain and record vital signs and weights according to policy.
Provide hands-on patient care, including grooming and personal care.
Feed or assist patients with meals and provide additional nourishment and hydration according to the care plan.
Collect and bag soiled linen and deliver it to the dirty linen area.
Assist physicians and licensed nurses with treatments and procedures as needed.
Provide toileting and incontinence care.
Report changes in patient condition and patient or family concerns or complaints to the charge nurse or supervisor.
Obtain specimens, observe and report information, and provide basic first aid.
