About The Position

STEM is Child's Play Foundation is hiring a work-study student to help turn existing Canvas LMS courses into game-based learning experiences for GED students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and kids discovering STEM for the first time. The courses are already built, and the student's role is to create the games that go with them using various third-party platforms. This is a 100% remote position with flexible hours, offering the opportunity to build a portfolio and receive mentorship from a founder with 40 years in tech. The work directly impacts learners in Albuquerque.

Requirements

Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM.
Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count).
Must have a Work-Study Award.
Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress if Work Study.
Comfortable learning new web-based tools quickly.
Solid writing skills – ability to turn a lesson into clear, engaging quiz questions.
Reliable, self-directed, and able to meet deadlines independently.

Nice To Haves

Currently enrolled college student eligible for federal or institutional work-study.
Experience with Canvas or another LMS.
Prior use of Kahoot/Quizizz/Blooket/similar platforms.
Coursework in education or instructional design.
Background in computer science or game design.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a bonus.

Responsibilities

Take finished Canvas courses (AI literacy, test prep, entrepreneurship, and STEM) and build matching games using third-party platforms like Kahoot, Quizizz, Blooket, Gimkit, Genially, JeopardyLabs, or Minecraft Education.
Write the questions and structure the rounds for the games.
Embed the created games into the appropriate course modules within the Canvas LMS.
