About The Position

AECOM has an outstanding opportunity for a LMR Technician/ TSG Consultant. This role will provide support to the Technology Solutions Group utilizing best practices to design, inspect, maintain, monitor, repair and report on the readiness and reliability of the existing and future LMR and wireless networks. This is a hybrid role with remote work and require some travel in support of TSG to engineer, design, and evaluate wireless communications systems including LMR.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience or Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • Two-way radio/LMR communication networks integration, testing, programming, troubleshooting, and design; or equivalent.
  • Experience in tactical communications P25 integration, installation, operations, and maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining P25 infrastructure equipment.
  • Experience supporting complex systems (e.g., P25/ASTRO 25 systems, DMR platforms, trunked and conventional networks), repeaters, and dispatch consoles.
  • Experience in analyzing tower sites and identifying deficiencies/areas that require correction/repair, documenting condition of sites, preparing reports to document tower site status, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Experience in performing preventative and corrective maintenance of command & control/dispatch center equipment and identifying deficiencies/areas that require correction/repair.
  • Experience preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's license and as a condition of employment, able to pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Sound knowledge of RF fundamentals across various communication systems.
  • Proficiency in installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of radio communications infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Motorola 7.xx System network equipment
  • Technical certifications preferred (e.g., Motorola training including R56, FCC GROL, safety certifications)
  • Expert knowledge of policies and procedures related to the licensing and management of LMR networks.
  • Project management training and experience.
  • Technology expertise may include APCO P25 Phase 1 & 2, Conventional Radio, Propriety Trunked Radio Systems, Standards-Based Trunked Radio Systems, Single & Multi-Site Systems / Multicast & Simulcast, Wide Area Systems / Microwave Systems, HF, Low Band, VHF, UHF, T-Band, 700/800 MHz, 900 MHz, Console Systems, and IP Networking.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical evaluations and assessments of various LMR networks and distributed antenna systems (DAS)
  • Performing field service work, including site visits, acceptance testing, signal/coverage verification, and documentation of LMR systems
  • Partnering with customers to plan installation and programming strategies, and to ensure site readiness prior to system deployment(s)
  • Assisting in scope development, quoting, and estimating for consulting services
  • Demonstrating a willingness to learn, grow, and be mentored on new technologies, equipment, and communication system platforms
  • Perform field work on commercial and LMR DAS installations including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and monitoring
  • Performing other duties as assigned
