About The Position

The Saratoga Regional YMCA is hiring for a LiveStrong Coach and we are excited to have you join our team! This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This role must be able to address the unique needs and concerns of cancer survivors, resulting from their cancer diagnoses and treatments. An ability to develop relationships with and among cancer survivors is necessary. Must be able to handle protected health information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications.
  • Nationally Accredited Group Fitness or Personal Training Certification or a degree in the Health and Wellness field.
  • Additional paid trainings required upon hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with participants to address the whole person’s well-being, including spirit, mind and body.
  • Perform assessments of participants.
  • Deliver curriculum to class participants in effective, meaningful, and compelling ways in accordance with the structure of the specific program.
  • Encourage group participation and interaction through the use of exploratory facilitation.
  • Empower participants to find ways to make program goals fit their lifestyle.
  • Facilitate commitment and retention of participants.
  • Create a motivating environment that is friendly, welcoming, and nonjudgmental.
  • Foster relationships with and between participants.
  • Create a group exercise program that allows for individualization.
  • Determine starting reps, sets, weight, duration, and determine if any modifications/adaptations may be needed to the exercise or equipment.
  • Be able to teach and demonstrate utilization of equipment, correct exercise technique and safety considerations.
  • Be able to make minor adjustments to exercise programs as needed in response to member adaptations/tolerance to activity per session.
  • Record data for each participant on required forms as well as enter into Welld according to data entry timing requirements.
  • Adhere to YMCA’s HIPAA policies and procedures and ensure participants’ protected health information is secure.
  • Participate in facilitator team discussions (meetings, emails, or conference calls) and professional development opportunities, offering ideas and tools for facilitation to other team members and remain engaged at all times.
  • Connect with Program Manager on a regular basis to update on program status and progress as per and additional expectations outlined.
  • Deliver program to fidelity and ensure all protocols are followed at all times, including keeping all necessary licenses and certifications current and in good standing.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of protected health information.
