About The Position

Bargain Lane is launching Bargain Lane Live, a new Whatnot channel, and is seeking a dynamic individual to host live shows. This role is focused on selling products during live auctions, similar to a QVC or auctioneer style, rather than content creation. The ideal candidate will be energetic, engaging, and capable of driving sales in a fast-paced, non-stop auction environment. The shows will run for 3.5 hours, featuring over 250 items per show, requiring the host to maintain high energy and interact with the chat.

Requirements

• Ability to command a room on camera for an entire show without fading.
• Ability to perform under pressure, leaning into challenges like slow bids or dead chat.
• Strong closing skills; ability to sell items, not just describe them.
• Ability to read a crowd quickly and pivot focus based on audience interest.
• Retail or customer-facing background (e.g., cashier, server, sales floor, barista).
• Ability to take feedback and improve.
• Flexibility in schedule, as shows can run any day of the week from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

Nice To Haves

• Prior Whatnot experience.
• Experience selling live on platforms like TikTok or Instagram.
• Experience running a resale channel.

Responsibilities

• Host live Whatnot shows, anchoring the weekday operation.
• Describe items quickly and effectively.
• Open bids and manage the auction cadence.
• Engage with the chat by name.
• Celebrate viewer wins.
• Maintain high energy levels throughout the 3.5-hour shows.
• Work alongside a show assistant who handles inventory flow.

Benefits
