About The Position
Visiting Angels of Longview is hiring caregivers to serve clients throughout East Texas, including Avinger, Longview, Jefferson, Ore City, and Gilmer. Home Health Aides help improve clients’ quality of life and support their wellness in accordance with custom care plans. The role includes personal care, household assistance, companionship, mobility support, medication reminders, and accompanying clients on errands. The organization offers advanced training opportunities in areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple duties.
- Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times.
- Physical endurance to carry groceries and physically support a client.
- Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints.
- Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
- Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten each client’s day.
Nice To Haves
- Interest in broadening caregiving skills through advanced training in dementia care and/or Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
- Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
- Plan and prepare meals with clients.
- Perform light housekeeping duties.
- Report health changes or unusual incidents.
- Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
- Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
- Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
- Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
- Assist clients with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
