About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive care to clients in their homes. Responsibilities include administering personal care, assisting with daily living activities, managing medications, and ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment. The caregiver will also be responsible for meal preparation, light housekeeping, and providing companionship.

Requirements

• College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
• Must have 5 years or more of work experience
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Must have CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and Personal Support Worker Certificate.
• Must have experience working with the elderly and persons with a disability.
• Must be able to provide a criminal record check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be punctual, dependable, organized, reliable, patient, and honest, with excellent oral communication skills and the ability to remain flexible.
• Must be able to work in the employer’s/client’s home.
• Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer bedside and personal care
• Administer medications
• Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
• Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk
• Change non-sterile dressings
• Feed or assist in feeding
• Launder clothing and household linens
• Mend clothing and linens
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus
• Provide companionship
• Provide personal care
• Shop for food and household supplies
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals
• Cook
