About The Position

Eden Valley Poultry Incorporated is seeking a Live Haul Unloading Driver to join our team. You are responsible for safe handling of live birds in acclimatizing ensuring compliance with the animal welfare program. As a processor of chicken and turkey for our Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island farmers, Eden Valley Poultry is unique in the industry. Requirements

  • Valid Forklift Certification required.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 1 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement required.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office.
  • Flexible to work rotating early morning shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and working in environments exposed to dust, noise, warm temperatures, and protective equipment requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, or poultry environment is an asset.
  • Experience operating forklifts or heavy equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely unload live bird modules using a forklift and ensure proper handling procedures are followed.
  • Stage live bird modules according to lot numbers and load schedules as required.
  • Wash, sanitize, and maintain live haul trailers and related equipment.
  • Reload empty modules into the system and secure clean tarps appropriately.
  • Monitor staged birds to ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and company procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation and records accurately, including HACCP-related forms and reports.
  • Follow all departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions to maintain consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to all health and safety, environmental, food safety, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and biosecurity requirements at all times.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, operational updates, continuous improvement initiatives, HACCP/food safety programs, and quality-related activities.
