About The Position

The Live Haul Manager is responsible for managing the catching operation and the transportation of birds from the farm to the plant. This role involves managing all personnel involved in this task in a cost-efficient manner, ensuring animal welfare and biosecurity training and compliance within the catch and live haul department. The manager will provide feed withdrawal times and catch times to all involved parties to meet plant requirements, monitor shed time, DOA's, shrink, catch dead, and bird damage to ensure company goals are met, and ensure weather handling tasks are in place and properly utilized. Additionally, the role involves establishing safe routes for trucks, participating in accident and catastrophic loss operations, providing catch, load, and time records to payroll, and participating in the company safety program by ensuring employee training and documentation. The manager is also responsible for maintaining company facilities and fleet through preventive maintenance, ensuring drivers comply with hours of service and DOT regulations, maintaining adequate staffing, and ensuring safe handling of chemicals, vaccines, and medications. Compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

Directly supervises at least 3 employees and indirectly supervises at least 15 employees.

Working in normal room environment, outside environment, and in cold, hot, humid, and dusty conditions.
Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
Physically able to climb a ladder at various heights.
Ensure drivers follow hours of service rules and all other DOT regulations.
Handles and ensures employees handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.

Responsibilities

Manage the catching operation and the transportation of birds from the farm to the plant.
Manage all personnel involved in this task in a cost-efficient manner.
Responsible for animal welfare and biosecurity training and compliance in the catch and live haul department.
Provide feed withdrawal times and catch times to all involved parties that will meet the requirements of the plant.
Monitor shed time, DOA’s, shrink, catch dead, and bird damage to ensure company goals are being met.
Ensure that any weather handling tasks (fans, wetting birds, wrapping cages) are in place and properly utilized.
Establish safe routes for trucks between farm and plant.
Participate in accident clean-up operations; assist in catastrophic loss operations.
Provide records of catch, loads, and time to payroll department.
Participate in the company safety program by ensuring all employees attend mandatory safety training; providing that training when required; and properly documenting training.
Maintain the company facilities and fleet through proper preventive maintenance.
Ensure drivers follow hours of service rules and all other DOT regulations.
Maintain adequate staffing.
Handles and ensures employees handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.
