About The Position

This position is responsible for entry level nonskilled general labor while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The Live Hanger hangs the birds by grabbing the birds by their legs while waiting for the empty shackles. They are then hung in an upside-down position facing the Live Hanger. The Live Hanger also ensures that there are no missed or empty shackles that pass by for continuously flow of process and to improve efficiency. Live hangers are expected to keep up with the probable maximum line speed. They ensure that both legs are hanging to prevent damaging the birds and for better throughput and better machine efficiency. Live hanger ensures that dead on arrivals (DOA) be put it in a designated tub. Live hangers rotate positions to prevent work related injury. They ensure that birds are all secure in live hang area and catch the birds that got out from the cages or live hang area. Must be able to tolerate motion and work on a fast-moving processing line. Willingness to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach. Must be able to lift 10 lbs. on a continual basis.

Responsibilities

• Hang live birds using empty shackles.
• Grab birds by their legs while waiting for empty shackles and hang them in an upside-down position.
• Ensure no missed or empty shackles pass by for continuous flow of process and to improve efficiency.
• Keep up with the probable maximum line speed.
• Ensure both legs are hanging to prevent damaging the birds and for better throughput and machine efficiency.
• Put dead on arrivals (DOA) in a designated tub.
• Rotate positions to prevent work-related injury.
• Ensure birds are secure in the live hang area and catch birds that get out from cages or the live hang area.
