About The Position

This role involves following all animal welfare standards while handling live poultry in a safe and respectful manner. The primary task is hanging chickens on shackles while abiding by animal welfare policies. This requires gently handling birds and ensuring their legs are secured within shackles. The process includes grasping the chicken from a moving conveyor belt, hanging it by both feet onto a moving shackle line, then positioning it breast-out and pulling it down into the shackles. The position also requires adherence to all safety requirements, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management-related matters. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment and participating in the Company and department safety program(s) are also key aspects of this role. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
• Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs. repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.
• Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.

• Experience in manufacturing/ shipping environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Grasp the chicken from the moving conveyor belt, hang it by both feet onto a moving shackle line, then hang it with the breast out and pull it down into the shackles.
• Adheres to all safety requirements, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures, and Process Safety Management-related matters.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Participates in Company and department safety program(s).
• All other duties as assigned.
