About The Position

Guidehouse is looking for a Litigation Paralegal to join their growing litigation and investigative support practice area. This role will support the Department of Justice, assisting litigating teams with all phases of litigation, particularly the Employment and Civil Litigation teams. The paralegal will perform research, locate responsive information, identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles, synopsize transcripts, and review case material to identify conflicting statements or areas needing further investigation. Work products will be reviewed, but the paralegal will develop them with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Successful completion of a Paralegal Certificate program, or Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Legal Studies (MLS/JM), or Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies or a related field such as Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Policy, or Government.
  • TWO (2) or more years of paralegal experience

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with an ACTIVE "TOP SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.
  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; organizing exhibits, and assisting with trial.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.
  • A general knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources is desired.
  • Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys.
  • Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs.
  • Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
