About The Position

The Philadelphia, PA office seeks a well-rounded, highly-motivated, experienced Litigation Paralegal with at least 6 years of experience to support its litigation defense practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to handle a variety of litigation support responsibilities including all aspects of the discovery process with a forward-thinking firm, in an expanding office.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience as a paralegal in litigation defense
  • Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor of Arts
  • Knowledge of electronic filing requirements at state and federal courts in Philadelphia and New Jersey
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to forecast and calendar court filings and docket deadlines
  • Organize, prioritize and implement daily tasks with strong attention to detail
  • Provide excellent written and verbal communication
  • Remain self-directed, self-motivated and effectively work under tight time constraints
  • Ability to consistently create and deliver quality work products
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and PDF maker (Nuance or Adobe Pro)
  • Efficiency with Westlaw

Responsibilities

  • Prepare court-ready state and federal pleadings, motions and responses to motions for e-filing with state and federal courts in Philadelphia and New Jersey, including the preparation of tables of contents and tables of authorities;
  • Maintain and organize high volume of case related documents, including but not limited to, large document productions by multiple parties;
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a busy legal environment;
  • Draft and respond to deposition notices and discovery requests, including, but not limited to, interrogatories, request for production, request for disclosure, request for admissions, and deposition notices, etc.;
  • Ability to prepare medical chronologies, identify subpoena targets, serve and monitor subpoenas and draft discovery motions;
  • Ability to assist with discovery motion practice, including motions to compel and motions to enforce;
  • Ability to prepare page-line deposition summaries;
  • Support assigned attorney defense litigation practice (i.e. phone conferences, meetings, case deadlines, hearing and trial dates, mediations and depositions, as well as scheduling orders and moving docket forward);
  • Document, organize and assist with preparation for trials and arbitrations hearings, including preparation of trial exhibits;
  • Save, file and organize pleadings, motions and related e-filed or emailed documented dates on a daily basis;
  • Enter billing time on a daily basis;
  • Maintain professional engagement and communication with a positive attitude with experts, colleagues, clients, co-counsel and court personnel.
