About The Position

Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is seeking a litigation paralegal in our Dallas office to assist attorneys representing leading automotive manufacturers and distributors in a range of matters including state and federal proceedings, state motor vehicle proceedings, and class actions. This position will sit in the Plano Office. The ideal candidate for this position possesses well-developed critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. You have a strong sense of accountability, take ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolve issues proactively, and know how to be a true team player. You’re a technology pro and have no problem learning new software. You utilize your paralegal expertise and keen eye for detail to further teamwork, client services, and efficiency. You will perform a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, you’ll work directly with attorneys on product liability, warranty, franchise and distribution law litigation, and other complex business disputes in a variety of industries. You’ll maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions. Other responsibilities will allow you to prepare deposition notices (organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries); track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; prepare for and attend trial; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle, especially product liability litigation
  • Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs
