Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, pleadings, discovery, and the litigation process.
  • Familiarity with NYSCEF, PACER, NJ eCourts, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, iManage, and litigation support software.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to support multiple attorneys and collaborate effectively with legal teams and administrative staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional and presentable demeanor.
  • Dependable, tech-savvy, collaborative, and able to work independently when needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to organize and maintain electronic and physical files and workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of litigation legal assistant or paralegal experience preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred.
  • Experience with court and administrative filings, including electronic filing systems.
  • Experience maintaining and organizing paper and electronic case files.
  • Familiarity with all stages of litigation, including intake, discovery, and trial preparation, preferred.
  • Experience using document management and litigation support software for document production and case organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, correspondence, subpoenas, and discovery materials in state and federal courts, including NYSCEF, PACER, and NJ eCourts.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings.
  • Prepare, organize, and scan legal documents, exhibits, binders, and case files using iManage, Adobe, and related software.
  • Support attorneys and paralegals with case management, docketing, discovery, evidence collection, and trial/hearing preparation.
  • Coordinate Zoom mediations, service lists, public records requests, and document production projects.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical files.
  • Assist with file closing procedures and related accounting requests.
  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, court personnel, clients, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
