Litigation Paralegal and E-Discovery Specialist

About The Position

This role is within the NXP Legal & IP Team, focusing on Litigation and Dispute Resolution. The primary responsibility is supporting internal and external attorneys with legal claims and litigation matters. A significant part of the role involves managing all aspects of document collection, including complex e-discovery projects across the company, often dealing with product and technical information. Strong problem-solving skills for electronic document collection, management, and review are essential. The position also involves administering litigation holds and providing general support for NXP worldwide across various dispute types such as patent, securities, antitrust, contract, trademark, tort, employment, and general business disputes. Additional duties include identifying employee witnesses, coordinating depositions, hearings, and trials, and serving as the primary intake for legal notices like bankruptcy, notices of production, third-party subpoenas, services of process, and third-party document requests. The role requires demonstrated excellence in organizational skills and attention to detail. Collaboration with outside counsel management, including budgeting and electronic bill review through CounselLink, is also a key aspect. The role presents challenges due to a high volume and fast-paced workflow requiring efficient and quality responses, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Candidates must be proactive, agile, collaborative, and creative in providing solutions to urgent problems and deadlines, managing assigned work, and prioritizing immediate support needs. The ability to work across regions and time zones, respecting cultural differences, is necessary due to the global nature of the company. Cross-functional interaction requires strong social and communication skills to engage with global colleagues and explain legal matters. An interest in Legal Technology and Law is important, as is the ability to work well in a support function interacting with various company organizations like Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Marketing, Finance, and Businesses.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with technology and ability to utilize various software systems including e-discovery platforms such as CasePoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Sharepoint, Outlook, Co-Pilot), including manipulating large data sets in Excel.
  • Experience with e-discovery project management involving large volumes of documentation.
  • 7+ years experience working as a litigation paralegal in a large corporation or law firm (corporate experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated excellence with organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving skills for electronic document collection, management and review.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional IT experience is a plus.
  • Patent litigation experience a plus.
