We are looking to hire a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to join us in our Insurance Defense Department. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of litigation legal assistant experience working for a law firm
  • Insurance Defense strongly preferred
  • Experience with state court filings and court procedures for NY and NJ courts.
  • E-filling experience with NYSCEF and/or JEDS
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling insurance defense matters
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, motions, and discovery materials
  • File documents electronically in state and federal courts
  • Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial schedules
  • Coordinate the service of pleadings and discovery documents
  • Organize, maintain, and update physical and electronic case files
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and insurance carriers
  • Assist with the preparation of trial binders, exhibits, subpoenas, and hearing materials
  • Review incoming mail and filings, and calendar all applicable deadlines
  • Support attorneys with document production, medical records, and litigation-related materials
