Based in New York, the Litigation Docket Clerk (Temporary Position) will be responsible for the various daily activities in a Managing Attorney’s Office, including the filing, service and retrieval of court documents; maintaining and updating all related databases; processing incoming court documents, checking dockets for updates, docketing/calendaring and running reports; communicating with court personnel and attorneys regarding proper filing procedures. This role reports to the Managing Attorney - NY.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and professionalism when interacting with attorneys, staff, courts, and vendors.
  • High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to learn new software and internal systems quickly.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a law firm, legal support, or court environment preferred.
  • Experience with state and federal court filings, including NYSCEF and PACER.
  • Familiarity with litigation support or Managing Attorney's Office functions.
  • Knowledge of New York court rules and filing procedures.
  • Experience coordinating with court personnel and service vendors.
  • Prior docketing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electronic filing in state and federal courts.
  • Prepare, review, and process legal documents for filing and service.
  • Monitor filing deadlines and court notifications.
  • Provide administrative support to the MAO team.
  • Communicate with attorneys and legal assistants regarding filing requirements and court procedures.
  • Obtain court documents, certified copies, and docket information as needed.
  • Maintain accurate filing records and tracking logs.
  • Perform docketing tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with special projects and provide general administrative and backup support as needed.
