About The Position

The Litigation Case Manager supports the litigation attorneys and provides world-class service to clients. Utilizes the case management software system to maintain and update case information. Follows the Firm’s standard operating procedures and guidelines. Adheres to Connecticut Civil Procedure timelines. Follows direction from the attorney, supervisor, and team leader. Demonstrates the core values of the firm; be a champion for others, be innovative, and be accountable.

Requirements

  • College degree in legal studies, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience handling personal injury litigation cases in Connecticut.
  • Proven knowledge, experience, and ability to provide paralegal support through all stages of a litigation case.
  • Thorough understanding case management procedures and Connecticut civil procedures.
  • Excellent service skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Math aptitude to review medical bills and complete settlement statements.
  • Attention to detail with proven ability to analyze facts/data and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to learn, retain, and apply new information.
  • Proactive and productive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work individually and as a team contributor.
  • Ability to deal with conflict in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Proficient typing skills to navigate various software programs, phone system, internet, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Adobe.

Nice To Haves

  • Notary Public a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of litigation cases.
  • Prepare files for jury trials including preparation of exhibits and scheduling of expert witnesses.
  • Prepare mediation and arbitration notebooks.
  • Update case information with current lien amounts, medical treatment, and prepare correspondence.
  • Maintain the litigation calendar including scheduling depositions, short calendar, pre-trials, and trial dates.
  • Follow CT civil procedures.
  • Draft summons, discovery/inspection, notice to produce, depositions, and motions.
  • Ensure timely filing of all complaints.
  • Be mindful of critical timelines such as statute of limitations and notice deadlines.
  • Utilize the case management system for timely data entry, checklists, documentation, and interoffice communication.
  • Meet and speak with clients to gather information and respond to questions and concerns.
  • Follow SOP regarding client communication throughout the phases of a case.
  • Obtain treatment status, provide updates, and ensure all necessary case documentation is received.
  • Adhere to the non-negotiable client contact procedures to provide world-class service in response to a client’s questions and concerns.
  • Utilize ‘Secret Service’ techniques to develop a connection and build a relationship with clients. Seek ways to deliver “Above and Beyond” client experiences.
  • Timely, professional communication with clients, providers, courts, attorneys, and insurance carriers.
