About The Position

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join the Litigation practice group in our Charleston, WV office. Our attorneys work on a full spectrum of general litigation cases for their clients. Our Litigation Practice Group serves clients in employment litigation, municipal litigation, toxic tort defense, and personal injury defense. We are seeking an attorney to provide expertise in all areas of litigation. You will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team of litigation counsel and benefit from the support and collaboration of all attorneys in the firm. Some of the key anticipated responsibilities are listed below: Lead the client through the litigation process including depositions and courtroom strategies. Provide analysis and counsel to clients on legal policy. Develop and recommend client policy and position on legal issues. Conduct and coordinate research, interview clients and witnesses, and handle all other details related to the preparation of trial or depositions. Independently manage case timelines and deadlines. Represent the client or its officials in various legal proceedings. Prepare for trial including taking and defending depositions, written discovery, and other case preparation. Draft briefs, pleadings, position statements, stipulations, and all types of motions. Write and administer complex legal arguments and defend such in court. Counsel clients on creation of sound operating policies, procedural improvements, and related agreements to avoid future litigation. Participate in practice group meetings to review current objectives, cases, and network with other attorneys and stakeholders in the group. Participate in professional development initiatives for Continuing Legal Education and firm sponsored seminars. Attends social functions and speaking engagements that support the development of the attorney's practice. Author publications for internal or external use. Requirements

  • License to practice law in West Virginia with bar admission in good standing
  • Degree from an accredited law school
  • 2-7 years' general litigation experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management mindset
  • Commitment to professionalism, cooperation, and teamwork
  • A strong drive to provide proactive, client-focused legal services
