About The Position

This is a Literacy Tutor position funded by a Title I grant, and the position is expected to last until the end of the current school year. The tutor will work 19.5 hours per week. The role involves instructing at-risk students, either individually or in small groups, within the regular classroom setting and potentially other locations, using prepared lesson plans. The tutor will facilitate instructional programs under the supervision of the classroom teacher, Title I Director, and Building Principal. Responsibilities include documenting student performance and progress in collaboration with teachers and adhering to individual student program requirements. The tutor will also plan instructional activities, administer assessments with classroom teachers, and meet regularly with staff to coordinate interdisciplinary programs. Additional duties may be assigned by the building principal or designee. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in education (minimum)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative problem solving skills.
  • Successful prior experience working with general education students.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning and the ability to apply these practices.
  • Ability to plan student lessons and work independently with individuals and groups.
  • Commitment to the District’s goals & school improvement plan goals.

Responsibilities

  • Using prepared lesson plans, instruct at-risk individuals or small groups of students within the regular classroom and occasionally other settings.
  • Facilitate the instructional programs of all assigned students under the supervision of the classroom teacher, Title I Director and Building Principal.
  • Document student performance and progress in collaboration with the classroom teachers and/or the student’s individual program requirements.
  • Plan appropriate instructional activities and administer assessments in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Meet regularly with other staff members and classroom teachers to coordinate interdisciplinary programs and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
