About The Position

Bridge Boston Charter School is a tuition-free, K1-8 public school serving 335 students in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Many of our students have experienced social, emotional, and developmental barriers to learning. Bridge Boston’s robust social-emotional program is designed to support students who have experienced trauma in their homes and communities. The Literacy Interventionist, reporting to the Senior Director of Academic Support and receiving coaching from the Literacy Specialist, will accelerate student growth through targeted, data-driven intervention for students in Elementary grades, with a focus on K1-3rd grade. While the current focus is literacy intervention, the role may evolve based on student needs and school priorities.

Requirements

  • BA required
  • 3+ years of teaching and/or interventionist experience in a similar setting preferred
  • Relevant Massachusetts Provisional, Initial, or Professional teaching certification
  • Sheltered English Immersion endorsement
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity; belief in the value of diversity
  • Clear willingness to make and learn from mistakes

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted, data-driven literacy instruction to Tier 2 and Tier 3 students
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Academic Support, DCIs, and lead teachers to identify students in need of targeted literacy interventions
  • Deliver literacy interventions using research based strategies and materials
  • Provide targeted literacy instruction and intervention across all components of reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension, based on individual student needs.
  • Proactively work with our youngest learners on building early literacy skills
  • Collect, analyze, synthesize, and share student literacy data; regularly progress monitor growth and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to make data-driven instructional and intervention decisions.
  • Attend and actively participate in required MTSS meetings for students who are identified for and receiving literacy interventions
  • Collaborate with the ILT and Literacy Specialist on school-wide professional development initiatives that foster strong literacy development
  • Ensure DIBELS Benchmark assessments and biweekly progress monitoring is completed schoolwide
  • Facilitate benchmark and interim assessments
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist with overall school culture and operations
