This position involves working with teachers to ensure the effective implementation of scientifically-based literacy-researched programs. The role includes providing direct, classroom-based professional development for teachers through regular modeling of research-based literacy instruction. The coach will collaborate with all teachers, including those in Exceptional Student Education, content areas, and elective areas, prioritizing coaching and mentoring for maximum impact on student achievement. A key responsibility is mentoring teachers in providing appropriate intensive intervention instruction for struggling students, including Limited English Proficient students. The role also involves modeling lessons in effective reading instruction, including differentiated instruction, and facilitating teacher study groups on current reading research and effective instruction. The coach will organize and lead needs-based professional development programs focused on achieving established reading benchmarks, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build trust with teachers and school leadership, and coordinate ongoing professional development through various activities. A commitment to focused reading instruction and providing instructional support for state and local initiatives are also essential. Additionally, the coach will assist content area teachers with effective strategies for content instruction and coach teachers in the latest techniques for reading problem prevention and remediation, modeling effective teaching strategies.
