About The Position

The Madison Area YMCA is hiring a 2026 Leader in Training (LIT) Coordinator to lead and support our co-ed leadership development program for students entering grades 6-9.

Position Overview: The LIT Coordinator provides direct supervision of LIT participants and leads the execution of curriculum-based lesson plans focused on leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and civic engagement. This role plays a key part in mentoring teens as they build skills and prepare for future leadership and volunteer roles.

Requirements

• A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
• Two seasons of experience working with youth in a camp setting (YMCA experience preferred)
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• A willingness to participate in high adventure activities, if needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, positive supervision of LIT participants.
• Create a safe, structured, and engaging program environment
• Lead curriculum-based activities, games, and workshops, including impromptu activities as needed
• Facilitate leadership development and volunteer experiences, including a Civic engagement workshop
• Guide, coach, and redirect participants behavior as needed
• Follow daily schedules and model punctuality and professionalism
• Maintain clean, organized program spaces and equipment
• Communicate areas of concern to the Associate Camp Director
• Adhere to all YMCA and Camp policies and safety protocols
