Your Job: The LIS Coordinator is responsible for departmental aspects of laboratory information systems to include testing of hardware and software, daily operations of Beaker and lab system analysts, maintenance of systems, training of new employees, setting up new programs, coordinating LIS functions within the laboratory, and assures compliance with all regulatory agencies for assigned area. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Information Technology or Information Management
  • MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), MLT(ASCP) or equivalent
  • Epic Beaker CP and AP certified
  • Instrument Manager certified in basics and rules
  • 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the plan, design, validation, implementation, support, and functionality related to Beaker, Data Innovations middleware, and WellSky. Manages assignments to lab system analysts ensuring workload is evenly distributed.
  • Create, test, and document new build, workflows, changes, etc.
  • Utilize detailed knowledge of Epic Beaker to understand the relationship between other Epic modules to maintain system integrity. Coordinate communication between Beaker, vendors, lab leadership, users, other Epic analysts, and IT to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provides consultative advice while validating workflows and configurations. Reviews team’s build for compliance with Methodist policies and procedures.
  • Monitors progress of team’s Cherwell tickets, Care Concern bulletins, Sherlock tickets, Nova Note assignment and completion, and projects. Maintain team’s on call and rounding schedules.
  • Develops, maintains, reviews, and revises appropriate departmental standard operating procedures and guidelines. Knowledgeable of LIS checklist items published by CAP and other Methodist lab accrediting bodies. Participates in regulatory internal and/or external inspections.
  • Effectively communicates project progress and issues to director and other lab leadership as needed. Tracks deadlines and communicates with team and leadership to manage expectations. Communicates with principal trainers any lab-related build that could affect end users.
  • Monitor Beaker team compliance with change control processes (CAB, Cherwell, Data Courier, and Content Management).
  • Performs other related procedures that are consistent with qualifications, training and experiences as requested by department or hospital administrative personnel
  • Other duties as assigned
