About The Position

The Liquor PIC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the liquor department, ensuring smooth functioning, compliance with legal requirements, and excellent customer service. This role involves supervising the liquor team, managing product merchandising, assisting customers, and ensuring compliance with alcohol and tobacco regulations. The Liquor PIC is accountable for the department's performance and assumes leadership responsibilities, including scheduling and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the liquor department.
  • Ensuring smooth functioning and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Supervising the liquor team.
  • Managing product merchandising.
  • Assisting customers.
  • Ensuring compliance with alcohol and tobacco regulations.
  • Accountable for the department's performance.
  • Assuming leadership responsibilities, including scheduling and supervising staff.
  • Following merchandising standards and practices.
  • Aligning product, collecting and returning stray items, and stocking to maintain high product levels.
  • Rotating merchandise.
  • Checking for accurate signage.
  • Hanging and replacing computer generated product signs.
  • Using a box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
  • Stocking opened cases on shelves.
  • Moving and positioning pallets of merchandise using a manual pallet jack.
  • Stacking product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
  • Communicating with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
  • Writing lists of products to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stocking.
  • Providing prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Answering phones, directing customers to product, and assisting customers with product information.
  • Checking photo identification to verify legal purchase age for anyone purchasing alcohol or tobacco products.
  • Ringing up orders.
  • Receiving payment, making change, processing checks, credit, EBT, and debit charges.
  • Cleaning the liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
  • Stocking supplies, emptying trash, and operating trash compactor and cardboard baler.
  • Working with vendors to ensure proper order quantities and rotation.
  • Projecting sales and scheduling labor to comply with established and/or directed standards.
  • Assisting in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Performing other functions as necessary or assigned.
