About The Position

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Liquor Manager for their Spokane location. This role is responsible for managing the liquor department, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining product quality and inventory, and adhering to all state and federal liquor sales laws and company policies. The manager will also be responsible for creating displays, handling customer relations, and ensuring the sales area and backroom are organized and maintained. This is a safety-sensitive position, meaning job responsibilities include tasks that could affect the safety or health of the employee or others.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of all job duties within the Liquor Department.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Good understanding of overall company practices and liquor policies and procedures on storage, safety, sanitation, and loss prevention.
  • Knowledge of state and federal liquor sales laws.
  • Ability to learn types, nomenclature, alcohol content, uses, and care of liquor department products.
  • Awareness of popular drink recipes.
  • Ability to judge and react to business activity.
  • Knowledge of product quality, variety, standards, sanitation, and labeling.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and metric measurements.
  • Frequently reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 lbs.
  • Bend, stoop, and reach frequently and may climb ladders.
  • Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheeler carts, and pallet jacks.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Utilize cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize safety cutters, compactors, and checkstand equipment.
  • Good attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion company and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Handle customer relations in a positive manner, including effective resolution of customer complaints.
  • Promote Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service in the liquor department.
  • Receive and breakdown loads, cut cases, price and mark product.
  • Stock, display, face, dust, and rotate product according to company procedures and division schematics.
  • Create effective displays for mixers, beer, liquor, wine, and other related merchandise.
  • Operate checkstand equipment such as cash register and scanner to process customer orders.
  • Be accountable for proper cash handling procedures and proper accounting of sales.
  • Assist customers by answering questions on product quality and taking and filling special orders.
  • Make product suggestions and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Make intercom announcements.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal liquor sales laws and company restricted sales and loss prevention policies.
  • Monitor inventory and space security.
  • Maintain and organize sales area, backroom, and cooler.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and appropriately resolve customer complaints and report to the Liquor Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties.
