About The Position

Liquor Clerks are responsible for stocking, straightening, and cleaning the liquor store, assisting customers, verifying purchaser age, and processing sales transactions. This role operates within a liquor store that has a separate entrance and gated access.

Requirements

  • Age and certification as required by local law
  • Training as required by local law
  • Ability to operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, and cardboard baler.
  • Ability to use box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
  • Ability to move and position pallets of merchandise using manual pallet jack.
  • Ability to speak and receive phone communications often.
  • Ability to use computer with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
  • Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 20 pounds below waist.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds at waist/chest.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follows merchandising standards and practices.
  • Aligns product, collects and returns stray items, and stocks shelves to maintain high product levels.
  • Rotates merchandise.
  • Checks for accurate signage and hangs/replaces computer-generated product signs.
  • Uses a box knife to cut boxes for product display/accessibility and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallets.
  • Stocks opened cases on shelves.
  • Moves and positions pallets of merchandise using a manual pallet jack.
  • Stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
  • Communicates with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plans and priorities.
  • Writes lists of products to be brought from storage by a forklift driver for stocking.
  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Answers phones, directs customers to products, and assists customers with product information.
  • Checks photo identification to verify legal purchase age for alcohol or tobacco purchases.
  • Rings up orders.
  • Receives payment, makes change, and processes checks, credit, EBT, and debit charges.
  • Cleans the liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
  • Stocks supplies, empties trash, and operates the trash compactor and cardboard baler.
  • Operates cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, and cardboard baler.
  • Assists in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
