About The Position

The Liquid Egg Processor is responsible for ensuring the proper handling, inspection, and processing of eggs in the transfer room, cups room, and related processing areas. The role involves operating machinery, inspecting eggs for quality, removing damaged or spoiled eggs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work areas. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines is essential. This position may involve various tasks based on the specific role assigned (e.g., Flat Tapper, Cherry Picker, or Cups Room duties).

  • Strong observation skills for inspecting egg quality and identifying defects or spoilage.
  • Knowledge of machine operations, including e-stops, switches, and safety features.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently while ensuring product quality.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to ensure smooth coordination with other team members.
  • Familiarity with basic safety procedures and awareness of pinch points and potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Capable of adapting to various roles depending on the department and production needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment (refrigerated areas).
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with manual dexterity.
  • Must wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Stack and tap flats as they come off the conveyor.
  • Remove excess broken or stuck eggs from the flats.
  • Maintain the pace with the machine while being aware of surrounding conditions.
  • Ensure the work area and surrounding areas remain clean.
  • Assist the Loader by removing tic-tac cardboards or flats from pallets when necessary.
  • Wrap finished pallets of pulp flats for disposal.
  • Visually inspect the egg quality before it enters the breaking machine.
  • Discard any broken, leaking, or dirty eggs.
  • Slow down the production conveyor if necessary to perform thorough inspections.
  • Notify management immediately if the water flow to the final egg rinse stops or if eggs are excessively dirty or broken.
  • Communicate any issues promptly to ensure smooth production.
  • Ensure that cracked eggs entering the pasteurization machine are wholesome and of good quality.
  • Discard eggs with shell fragments, blood, or spoilage, and retrieve solid cracked shells as needed.
  • Notify the pasteurizer operator of any issues in the cups room, such as leaks, overflows, or machine malfunctions.
  • Stop the production line when heavily spoiled or black eggs are found so the machine can be cleaned and sanitized.
  • Follow proper PPE requirements, including wearing scrubs or a lab coat, a surgical face mask, and arm sleeves. Hearing protection is required.
  • Operate and monitor equipment in each assigned area while ensuring product quality and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Follow all GMP, SOP, HACCP, and SQF guidelines during daily tasks.
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Report any machine issues, quality concerns, or safety hazards to the supervisor or management.
  • Maintain communication open with the pasteurizer operator, loaders, and other team members to ensure efficient operations.
