About The Position

Northrop Grumman’s Classified Solutions CIDO team is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst – Linux Systems Administrator to support information system lifecycle activities for classified government contracts. The position is full-time and requires on-site work at the company’s Azusa, California location; virtual and telecommute options are not available because of the classified nature of the work. Candidates must hold a current U.S. Government Top Secret clearance and meet applicable U.S. Government 8140 requirements for a Linux Systems Administrator at IAT Level II or higher.

The administrator supports Linux systems and multiple networks, assists with installation, patching, troubleshooting, configuration management, backups, recovery, file systems, disk space, and routine virus protection. The role also supports testing product releases, security auditing and logging, cybersecurity documentation, ticket-based support, and coordination with engineering, desktop support, vendors, and customers. Work may occur after hours and on weekends as needed, and the role requires lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Travel is 10% of the time; relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

• Master’s degree and 0 years of IT experience; or bachelor’s degree and 2 years of IT experience; or associate degree and 4 years of IT experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and 6 years of IT experience.
• Knowledge of Linux server operating systems and workstation support.
• Meet U.S. Government 8140 requirements (8570 equivalent) for a Linux Systems Administrator – IAT Level II certification at minimum; examples include Security+ CE, CND, CCNA Security, SSCP, GICSP, GSEC, or CCISO.
• Current U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at minimum.
• Willingness to work full-time on-site in Azusa, California.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Availability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Active Secret, Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or polygraph.
• Security+ CE certification.
• Knowledge of NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.
• Understanding of basic networking.
• Experience creating and deploying system images in a LAN through an enterprise environment.
• Awareness of virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools such as HBSS, SolarWinds, or Splunk.
• Limited experience in scripting.
• Cross-platform operating-system awareness across two or more of Windows, Linux, Solaris, OSX, UNIX, and similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform as a Computer Systems Analyst – Linux supporting classified government contracts.
• Communicate effectively and patiently with customers, maintaining customer satisfaction in accordance with defined objectives and established policies.
• Report the status of recurring and non-recurring work in written and oral formats.
• Work across disciplines to help isolate issues involving software, firmware, hardware, operating systems, networks, applications, and recurrent or one-time problems.
• Support administration of multiple networks under limited direction while following security policies and procedures.
• Assist with installing, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting Linux systems in support of configuration management.
• Assist with backup and recovery services; manage Linux file systems and disk space; and routinely manage virus protection.
• Assist in testing new product releases for compatibility and to minimize user impact.
• Follow assigned technical processes and procedures.
• Assist with vendor troubleshooting and evaluate vendor products, services, and recommendations.
• Adhere to strict information systems security guidelines.
• Assist with maintaining security audit and logging information on classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager.
• Prepare documentation for input to Cybersecurity.
• Support environments through ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA.
• Escalate issues requiring senior-level attention or involvement.
• Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work after hours and on weekends as needed.
