As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining a dynamic and heterogeneous Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (versions 7, 8, and 9). Your responsibilities will include: Providing system administration in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment while collaborating effectively within a team. Utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical challenges of moderate to high complexity, including hardware and operating system (OS) integrations. Installing and configuring software applications based on end-user requirements. Partnering with Cybersecurity professionals to ensure compliance with security requirements and best practices. Performing monthly system patches and updates to maintain optimal functionality and security. Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities identified in SCAP scans and STIG findings to ensure system integrity. Ensuring antivirus definitions are up-to-date and verifying servers are properly reporting to Splunk. Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls to maintain system security and compliance. Overseeing system backups, conducting regular tests to validate data restoration processes, and ensuring effective data retention.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions and implementations.
  • Experience with databases such as MariaDB, Oracle, and SQL.
  • Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) and LDAP.
  • Experience with security tools, including SCAP, Nessus, Splunk, Symantec, and other antivirus solutions, as well as system hardening practices.
  • Background in supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience troubleshooting and documenting real-time solutions to technical challenges.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) and familiarity with Kickstart.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as ESXi, VMware, and vSphere.
  • Experience of NetApp/Ontap storage solutions.
  • Experience in infrastructure backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
