About The Position

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an experienced System Administrator skilled in Linux to implement, secure, and maintain systems and associated applications, services, and components. This position will primarily focus on implementing and then supporting Linux in Azure and AWS cloud environments. This is an on-site, non-remote position located in North Logan, UT.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in administering Linux environments, to include RPM and Debian-based distributions
  • Experience integrating Linux with EntraID/Intune environment, to include OIDC, Exchange, and WSL
  • Experience deploying and managing Linux workloads in Azure (VMs, networking, identity, monitoring)
  • Understanding of information systems security best practices and use of security tools such as Nessus, SCAP, and applying STIGs
  • Experience configuring and supporting headless and bare metal servers
  • Willing to travel if required, though not a normal expectation
  • Strong organizational skills, quick learner, and demonstrated problem solver
  • Ability to apply knowledge to complex, practical situations
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Ability and desire to continue learning new skills as system needs grow and change
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Valid CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science, information systems, engineering, or related computer field
  • 15+ years of IT-specific experience (systems administration related)
  • Ability to automate at scale utilizing enterprise-grade tools (i.e., Bicep/ARM, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Terraform)
  • Experience with containerized tools & platforms (i.e., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or OpenShift)
  • Experience with one or more of the following would be helpful: AWS/Azure cloud environments, containers, automation, enterprise tooling, compliance
  • Experience in regulated environments or specifically, meeting NIST SP 800-171 or NIST SP 800-53 requirements in a Linux environment

Responsibilities

  • Owns the implementation, installation, and configuration of Linux servers, workstations, and containers
  • Supports and maintains Linux systems in hybrid cloud environments (Azure and AWS)
  • Assists other Systems Administrators as a Linux expert as needed
  • Follows established IT policies and procedures to perform audits and ensure compliance
  • Collaborates with leadership to prioritize projects, requests, changes, and tasks
  • Documents issues and communicates progress through updates, workflow status, due dates, etc., as issues are being worked on
  • Understands and utilizes Change Management when adding, modifying, or removing anything that could affect IT services
  • Proactively monitors assigned systems to ensure high availability, optimum performance, and security
  • Assists in the design of information systems
  • Develops deep operational knowledge of company processes, systems, and networks
  • Responsible for documentation of assigned systems and solutions
  • Operates within and help maintain CMMC compliant environment
  • Serves as primary SME for Linux systems in cloud environments
  • Provides after-hours support for maintenance windows and incident response as needed
